The Australian Government has changed the policy for extending working hours and extending post-tertiary work visas (subclass 485) for international students studying in Australia. This policy will be effective on July 1, 2023.
1. Part-time work rights for international students will be changed from 40 hours/2 weeks to 48 hours/2 weeks.
2. The right to apply for a working visa (subclass 485) after completion of tertiary education is granted the right to extend more than 2 years.
– Bachelor’s degree can extend the working visa period from 2 years to 4 years in the specified field.
– Master’s degree can extend the working visa period from 3 years to 5 years in the specified field.
– Doctoral degree can extend the working visa period from 4 years to 6 years.
