Boxing Day in Australia

Boxing Day

Also known as “The day of giving and receiving”, is another national holiday in Australia after Christmas Day which falls on 26 December of each year.

Boxing day is a day when employees receive a gift from their boss or employers. Plus, on this day, people put their money in the donation boxes to donate to poor people around the city which is why it’s called “the day of giving and receiving”. In the past, it is believed that the ship sailing with the boxes of money will bring good luck throughout the journey, and upon reaching the destination, those boxes of money will be given to the priests in order to be opened on Christmas night.

Another special of Boxing day is that stores such as clothes, shoes, bags, or accessories have special prices with 50-80% discounts. This day is the day that shoppers are waiting for.
